Computer science claims slight victory in high schools
For the primary time, a slim majority of all U.S. high schools–51 %–provide foundational pc science, up from 35 % in 2018.
The new statistics come from the 2021 State of Computer Science Education: Accelerating Action Through Advocacy, launched by Code.org, the Computer Science Teachers Association, and the Expanding Computing Education Pathways Alliance.
The newest knowledge reveals that disparities exist relating to who has entry to and who participates in pc science schooling. Students who attend rural schools, city schools, or schools with increased percentages of economically deprived college students are much less prone to have entry to pc science.
Published yearly, the report supplies a complete evaluation of nationwide progress in pc science schooling, that includes nationwide and state-level coverage and implementation knowledge with a deal with fairness and variety.
